Easy Baked Ham Sandwich

First, though - Ben sleeping. Obviously not wanting the pacifier this time. He's two months old today! We take him to the pediatrician tomorrow for his check-up and some shots (!). I have a really great picture I'll post tomorrow with his height and weight stats.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Easy Baked Ham Sandwich

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Line cookie sheet with foil.

• 1 loaf of French Bread, halved long-wise
• 1 package Virginia Baked Ham
• 2 cups shredded cheese, of your choice (I usually use Sharp Cheddar)

• 1 stick butter
• 2-3 teaspoons onion, chopped fine
• 2 tablespoons sandwich spread
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• 2 teaspoons poppy seeds

Melt butter in a saucepan and add onion. Cook until onions are translucent. Add sandwich spread, sugar and poppy seeds. Cook until sandwich spread is combined smoothly with butter.

Mark likes to spread a little bit of the butter/sandwich spread mixture on the inside of the French bread; I don't think it makes it taste any differently, but I'll humor the man.

Layer the ham on the bottom half of the French Bread.

Layer the cheese on top of the ham.

Place the top on the bread and pour the butter/sandwich spread mixture over the top.

Top bread with aluminum foil and bake for 15 minutes. Remove foil and bake, uncovered, for 5 minutes.

Slice thickly and enjoy!
