Tough Question
A few minutes ago, Anthony walked up to me with his transplant photo album, open to the page that has the picture of him laying in the PICU bed the day after transplant. He was crying, and pointing to his stomach in the picture. He said, "Mommy, Anny tummy look hurt!" and he was just crying!!! Oh, God! How am I supposed to handle that?
I basically just told him that his tummy was hurt, then, but that it isn't anymore. Then we pointed out his scar now, and I asked him if it hurt now. He said no, and wandered off to play.
Of course, I'm still sitting here shell-shocked. I didn't think we were going to be fielding questions about his transplant this soon! I will always tell him the truth about his transplant (age appropriately, of course), but I'm not ready!

Janna has done the same thing...looking at her transplant album. She will point to all the tubes and the staples too. We have talked about her transplant and her scar from day one. Maybe that makes the difference with her. After looking at it though, she will point to her scar and tell me that "I got a new liver". Sometimes she will say she got a new liver from Omaha or the hospital. She also likes staring at her old "binkie" in one of the pictures in the album too.
